DPW Industrial Action - 04/01/2012

To our valued customers,

We regret to advise that we have received notice of further industrial disruption by the Maritime Union of Australia affecting the operation of DP World West Swanson Terminal in Melbourne. The MUA have now formally notified us of the following action:

• With effect from 0630 Saturday January 07 until 2230 on Sunday January 08 there will be a ban on working overtime.
• With effect from 2230 Sunday January 08 until 2230 Monday January 09 all terminal operations will cease. During this period reefer monitoring and other cargo care functions will continue.
• With effect from 0630 Monday January 02 until 2230 Sunday January 15 there will be a ban on shift extensions.

In response to the latest advice of industrial disruption in Melbourne by the Maritime Union of Australia DP World will again exercise Protected Action options open to them under the Fair Work Act. This will take the form of a ‘lock out’ of employees from 2230 Monday January 09 until 2230 Tuesday January 10. During this period reefer monitoring and other cargo care functions will continue as normal.  As a consequence there will be no work in West Swanson Terminal from 2230 Sunday January 08 until 2230 Tuesday January 10. This will have a knock on effect throughout the course of next week.
